Cook the Mutton Chops
Heat the cooking oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
Add the marinated mutton chops in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan.
Cook for approximately 4–5 minutes on each side to brown the meat.
Spread some of the prepared mint garlic butter over the chops as they cook, turning them carefully so the butter and herbs coat the meat.
Continue cooking over medium to medium-low heat as needed until the chops are tender and safely cooked through. Thicker or tougher chops may require additional cooking time and a little water with a covered pan to become tender.
Avoid allowing the garlic and butter to burn. If needed, lower the heat and add the butter toward the later part of cooking.

Tips & Notes
Marinate for maximum flavor:
Allow the chops to marinate in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours. If using meat tenderizer, follow its package directions and avoid excessive marination.
Use softened butter:
Softened butter blends more easily with the garlic, dried mint, chilli, and parsley.
Cook according to thickness:
Thin chops may cook quickly, while thicker or tougher mutton chops need more time. Do not rely on cooking time alone to judge doneness.
Prevent the garlic from burning:
Add the mint garlic butter gradually and lower the heat if the garlic begins to brown too quickly.
FAQ
Can I prepare the mutton chops in advance?
Yes. You can marinate the chops up to 24 hours ahead in the refrigerator, provided the ingredients and meat are handled safely. Prepare the sauce separately and keep it chilled.
How do I make mutton chops more tender?
Choose good-quality chops, avoid overcooking them at high heat, and allow sufficient cooking time. If the meat remains tough after browning, add a small amount of water, cover the pan, and cook gently until tender.
Can I make this recipe without meat tenderizer?
Absolutely! Meat tenderizer is optional. The marinade adds plenty of flavor, while gentle cooking helps improve tenderness.
Can I use lamb chops instead of mutton chops?
Yes. Lamb chops work well in this recipe. Because lamb chops may be smaller and more tender, adjust the cooking time accordingly.
How should I store leftovers?
Refrigerate cooked mutton chops in an airtight container within two hours of cooking and consume within 3–4 days. Keep the yogurt mint sauce in a separate container and use it within 3–4 days, provided it has been refrigerated properly. Reheat the chops thoroughly before serving.
