Course Breakfast
Cuisine French
For the Strawberry Sauce:
- 1 cup Strawberries chopped
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Lemon juice
- 1 tsp Cornflour
- ½ cup Water (or as needed)
For the Caramelized Toast:
- 4 tbsp Butter
- ⅓ cup Brown sugar
- 3 Eggs
- ½ cup Milk
- ¼ cup Cream
- 1 tsp Vanilla essence
- 1 tbsp Caster sugar
- 6 Slices Bread
Make the Strawberry Sauce:
In a saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, cornflour, and water.
Turn on the flame and cook on low heat for 5–6 minutes, stirring gently until the sauce thickens slightly.
Remove from heat and let it cool. Your fresh strawberry sauce is ready!
Prepare the Egg Mixture:
In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla essence, a pinch of pink salt, and caster sugar until well combined. Set aside.
Assemble the French Toast:
Trim the edges of the bread slices for a neat look.
Spread a generous layer of the brown sugar mixture on one slice of bread, then place another slice on top to make a sandwich.
Dip the sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s coated well but not too soggy.
Cook the Toast:
Heat a greased griddle or non-stick pan on low flame.
Place the sandwich on the pan and brush both sides with the brown sugar mixture.
Cook slowly on both sides until golden brown and caramelized. Be patient — low and slow gives the best crust!
Repeat for the remaining slices (makes 3 sandwiches total).
Serve and Enjoy:
On a serving plate, pour a layer of the cooled strawberry sauce.
Place the warm caramelized French toast over it.
Garnish with extra strawberries or a dusting of powdered sugar — and serve!
💡 Pro Tips:
- Use day-old bread for better structure and less sogginess.
- Want to get fancy? Add a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of maple syrup before serving.
- You can prep the strawberry sauce a day ahead and store it in the fridge.
