  • 250 g Chickpeas cooked
  • 6 tbsp Tahini
  • 1 Lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • A pinch Black pepper
  • Cumin to taste (optional)
  • 4 ice cubes (optional — helps make the hummus extra creamy)

Instructions

Blend the chickpeas

  • Place the cooked chickpeas and ice cubes in a food processor or blender. Blend until mostly smooth.

Add remaining ingredients

  • Add the tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and cumin (if using). Blend again until the hummus is creamy and smooth.
If needed, add a little extra olive oil to adjust the consistency

Store

  • Transfer the hummus to an airtight container and refrigerate. It will keep for up to 1 week in the fridge.

Serve

  • Before serving, drizzle with a little olive oil, sprinkle with paprika, and decorate with black or green olives. Serve with warm pita bread, pita chips, crusty bread, or fresh vegetable sticks like cucumber, carrot, or bell pepper.

Notes

Tips for Perfect Hummus
  • Peel the chickpeas for an ultra-smooth texture. It’s a small extra step that makes a big difference.
  • Use good-quality tahini: Smooth and well-balanced tahini is key for flavor.
  • Adjust to taste: Add more lemon juice for brightness, more garlic for punch, or a pinch of paprika or cumin for warmth.
  • Serve at room temperature for the best texture and flavor.
